According to Sunday Mirror Sport, the Man United eggheads and the Spaniard’s agent Jorge Mendes had a fruitful discussions, with the shot-stopper accepting to sign a new five year deal.
The new contract will see the 28-year-old De Gea become the highest paid goalkeeper in the world after the increase from his previous £200,000 weekly salary. Interestingly, De Gea was asking for a pay rise that will see him earn as much as Alexis Sanchez, who earns around £500,000-a-week since arriving from Arsenal. On the other, the report hinted that revealed that De Gea was waiting to see if Real Madrid would revive their interest in signing him, but opted to accept after that Zinedine Zidane other pressing transfer targets.
